The Hard Truth About Our City’s Safety Crisis

Our beloved Greensboro finds itself at a critical moment. The statistics don’t lie – our ranking among the most unsafe cities in America isn’t just a number, it’s a wake-up call. As I meet with neighbors throughout District 4, I hear heartbreaking stories of families who no longer feel safe in their own neighborhoods, business owners struggling with repeated break-ins, and residents who have lost faith in city leadership’s ability to address these fundamental concerns.

Why I’m Standing Up for Change

I’m running for City Council because I refuse to accept this as our new normal. While current leadership offers excuses and empty promises, I’m bringing real solutions to the table. Our police department needs more than just verbal support – they need proper funding, staffing, and resources to do their jobs effectively. As your representative, I will fight to ensure our first responders have everything they need to keep our community safe.

Building Trust Through Community Policing

But strengthening our police force is just the beginning. We need a comprehensive approach that includes enhanced community policing programs to rebuild trust between law enforcement and residents. When officers know the neighborhoods they serve and citizens trust their police department, we all benefit. I’m committed to investing in prevention programs that address the root causes of crime – from youth initiatives that give our kids positive alternatives to mental health support services that help those in crisis before they turn to crime.

Cutting Red Tape to Save Lives

One of the most frustrating aspects of our current system is the bureaucratic red tape that slows down emergency response times and prevents our first responders from doing their jobs efficiently. As someone with a business background, I know how to cut through unnecessary bureaucracy and streamline operations. When seconds count, our citizens shouldn’t have to wait because of administrative bottlenecks.

A Clear Path Forward

The truth is that Greensboro’s crime problem didn’t develop overnight, and it won’t be solved with quick fixes or political rhetoric. But with strong leadership and a commitment to real solutions, we can turn things around. I have a clear vision for a safer Greensboro:

  • Fully funding our police department and ensuring they have the training and equipment they need
  • Implementing effective community policing programs that build trust and engagement
  • Investing in crime prevention through youth programs and mental health services
  • Cutting bureaucratic red tape to improve emergency response times
