Building a Thriving Greensboro: Economic Growth, Job Creation, and Business Expansion

As a candidate for Greensboro City Council District 4, I am committed to fostering economic expansion and creating high-paying jobs for our community. With over 45 years of business leadership, I bring the experience, vision, and strategic approach necessary to ensure that Greensboro continues to thrive as a hub of economic opportunity.

One of the most exciting recent developments in our city is the expansion of Banknote Corporation of America in Northeast Greensboro. This US-based commercial security printer is investing $28.5 million to build a state-of-the-art, 20,000-square-foot facility at 6109 Corporate Park Dr. This project will bring 50 new jobs to our community, demonstrating the power of strategic investment and business-friendly policies.

Economic growth doesn’t happen by chance—it requires leadership, vision, and a commitment to supporting businesses of all sizes. Through my work with Carolina Digital Phone and my advocacy for local economic initiatives, I have seen firsthand how fostering a supportive business environment can lead to lasting job creation and community prosperity.

My plan to expand Greensboro’s economic opportunities includes:

1. Enhancing Business Incentives – We must continue to attract businesses by offering competitive incentives and reducing barriers to entry. By streamlining permitting processes and ensuring businesses have the resources they need, we can foster growth and expansion.

2. Investing in Workforce Development – To support high-paying job growth, we must ensure that our workforce is equipped with the skills needed for today’s job market. I will advocate for stronger partnerships between local businesses, technical schools, and universities to provide specialized training programs that match employer needs.

3. Supporting Strategic Infrastructure Projects – Investments in transportation, broadband, and commercial development are essential to sustaining economic growth. I will push for infrastructure improvements, particularly in areas poised for expansion like Northeast Greensboro and the Highway 421 corridor.

4. Encouraging Innovation and Entrepreneurship – Startups and small businesses are the backbone of our economy. By fostering an environment where entrepreneurs can thrive—through access to capital, mentorship programs, and business networking opportunities—we can create sustainable economic success.

5. Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships – Collaboration between the city, private sector, and community organizations is key to Greensboro’s growth. I will work to ensure that our local government supports businesses through initiatives like the new SelectGreensboro.com website and the GSO2040 Comprehensive Plan.

Greensboro is on the rise, and with the right leadership, we can accelerate this momentum. The expansion of Banknote Corporation of America is just one example of what is possible when businesses see our city as a prime location for investment.
