As a candidate for Greensboro City Council District 4, I am deeply committed to our city’s future. I wholeheartedly support City Manager Trey Davis’ ambitious ‘Road to 10,000’ initiative. This plan is essential to addressing our city’s growing demand for affordable and attainable housing and ensuring that Greensboro remains welcoming and prosperous.
City Manager Trey Davis said, “Through my conversations with economic development experts, economists, and workforce representatives, one message has been clear—Greensboro needs more housing. Our city is expanding rapidly, and to sustain this momentum, we must prioritize housing development. Providing 10,000 livable housing units is not just a goal; it’s necessary for our future prosperity.”
As your future City Council member, I will work tirelessly to support this aggressive plan to add 10,000 new housing units to our community. Housing must be at the top of our priority list to accommodate ongoing and anticipated growth. This initiative isn’t just about increasing the number of homes—it’s about fostering a balanced and thriving community where everyone has a place to live.
Greensboro’s housing market must serve everyone—professionals, college and university students, skilled workers, and longtime residents. The ‘Road to 10,000’ initiative embraces a diverse housing spectrum, ensuring affordable and attainable options are available for all. This plan goes beyond just one market segment; it’s about inclusivity and long-term sustainability.
To bring this vision to life, I will advocate for:
A detailed roadmap to achieve 10,000 livable housing units.
A comprehensive assessment of our current housing stock to identify critical gaps.
Community engagement to understand the specific housing needs of residents.
Collaborations with local colleges, universities, and workforce development organizations to support housing initiatives.
Achieving this ambitious goal requires a strong partnership between private developers, non-profits, and local government. As a future City Council member, I support offering incentives to encourage affordable housing development, streamlining permitting processes, and utilizing public land for strategic projects. Additionally, we must invest in infrastructure—transportation, broadband, and utilities—to support these new communities.
Trey Davis’s ‘Road to 10,000’ plan is about more than just building homes—it’s about enhancing Greensboro’s quality of life. By planning our growth thoughtfully, we can create vibrant, connected neighborhoods where people can live, work, and thrive.
Greensboro’s growth presents both challenges and opportunities. With strong leadership and a proactive approach, we can ensure every resident can access safe, affordable, and high-quality housing. I am committed to working with Trey Davis and city leaders to make this vision a reality and keep Greensboro moving forward.
As your next City Council representative, I will fight for smart growth, sustainable housing solutions, and a stronger, more inclusive Greensboro.
Let’s build a brighter future together!
