A New Chapter in Greensboro’s Growth: Amazon Breaks Ground on Major Facility

Big news is on the horizon for Greensboro’s economy – and it comes in the form of a global logistics giant.

Amazon has officially received a building permit to construct a 192,000+ square-foot, $24.4 million delivery station on an 85-acre tract at 238 Ritters Lake Road in Greensboro. This new facility will serve as a key piece of Amazon’s fast-growing “last-mile” delivery network, ensuring quicker delivery for our region’s customers and meaningful economic opportunity for our city.

While Amazon hasn’t yet released the number of jobs this new station will create, based on past facility openings, we can expect dozens to potentially hundreds of new full-time and part-time positions. These jobs span logistics, transportation, maintenance, and support roles—each helping to fuel our city’s economic engine.

This is more than just a new warehouse. This is part of Amazon’s strategic hub-and-spoke model, and Greensboro is being chosen as a vital spoke in its regional delivery network. Our city’s location, infrastructure, and workforce are attracting investment on a national scale.

Let’s put this into perspective:

  • $24.4 million in new capital investment.

  • Located within the Ritters Logistics Center @ I-85, a premier industrial zone designed for Class A development.

  • This is building on a pattern of success, with existing Amazon facilities in Kernersville, Colfax, Whitsett, and Surry County already generating jobs and strengthening local economies.

As a business leader and candidate for City Council, I welcome this development. It shows that major companies like Amazon take notice when Greensboro invests in smart land-use planning, reliable infrastructure, and business-friendly policies. This type of growth strengthens our tax base, provides well-paying jobs, and positions us for a resilient economic future.

But let’s also be clear: with a big opportunity comes enormous responsibility. We must ensure that this project—and others like it—complements local workforce development, avoids overburdening traffic corridors, and thoughtfully integrates with our community’s long-term needs. Smart growth doesn’t just mean growth for growth’s sake—it means growing with intention.

As your next City Council representative, I will work to ensure projects like this benefit all of Greensboro, from Southside to New Irving Park, from College Hill to Adams Farm. Together, we can harness economic momentum to build a safer, stronger, more opportunity-filled Greensboro.

Let’s keep moving Greensboro forward—smartly and strategically.
