Fixing Greensboro’s Infrastructure: Why Smart Planning Matters

What is takes to get a pothole Fixed in Greensboro NC

The Problem We Face

Greensboro’s infrastructure is showing serious signs of wear. Residents regularly contend with pothole-filled streets, burnt-out streetlights, and neglected parks. These failings undermine safety, hurt quality of life, and raise questions about whether tax dollars are being spent wisely.

At the same time, many of the projects that do receive funding fail to address core needs. The mismatch between investment and urgent priorities has left neighborhoods frustrated and underserved.

1. Prioritize Basic Maintenance

I believe repairs and upkeep must come first. He proposes a city budget that dedicates meaningful funds to:

  • Fixing potholes and repaving damaged roads
  • Restoring streetlights for safety and visibility
  • Revitalizing community parks—playgrounds, walking paths, restrooms—to ensure they serve families well

2. Launch a Full Infrastructure Audit

Greensboro needs a roadmap. I will call for an independent, comprehensive audit that:

  • Identifies critical infrastructure gaps across neighborhoods
  • Ranks them by urgency and public safety impact
  • Boosts transparency and holds elected leaders accountable

3. Involve the Community

Spending must reflect residents’ real concerns. I want to engage residents directly through:

  • Town halls and community forums
  • Participatory budgeting for infrastructure projects
  • Clear updates on progress and feedback loops for projects underway

4. Choose Transportation Projects Wisely

Large-scale transportation proposals come with hefty price tags and long timelines. I support them—so long as they pass a cost/benefit test. In the meantime, he favors more immediate improvements:

  • Enhancing current transit systems
  • Adding bike lanes and crosswalks for safe, walkable neighborhoods
  • Exploring public-private partnerships to expand transit options more quickly and practically

Why It Matters

I have spent over 45 years building businesses and solving real-world problems, and know that delayed fixes and misaligned spending damage trust and weaken communities. If elected, he’ll bring:

  • Budget discipline and a focus on what works
  • Naturally, business-minded prioritization of core services
  • A willingness to challenge “politics as usual” in favor of practical solutions
