Building a Stronger, Safer, and More Prosperous Greensboro

A Vision for Greensboro: Growth, Safety, and Leadership for a Stronger Future

By Nicky Smith, Candidate for Greensboro City Council District 4
February 27, 2025

Greensboro is my home. It’s where I’ve built my business, raised my family, and dedicated my time to serving our community. As I look ahead, I see incredible potential for our city to grow, thrive, and become an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. That’s why I’m committed to helping Greensboro reach new heights—by strengthening our economy, making our city safer, and providing the strong leadership needed to guide us forward.

Growing Greensboro’s Economy

Greensboro is on the move. In 2024, we saw over $430 million in new capital investment, creating more than 500 new jobs across key industries. The GSO2040 Comprehensive Plan provides a vision for smart, sustainable growth, and initiatives like the Highway 421 Land-Use Study and the launch of SelectGreensboro.com are positioning our city for long-term success.

As a business leader with over 45 years of experience, I know what it takes to create jobs and foster economic growth. We must continue supporting local businesses, attracting new industries, and investing in infrastructure that makes Greensboro a top destination for companies and entrepreneurs.

Making Greensboro Safer

Economic growth means little if people don’t feel safe in their own neighborhoods. Ensuring public safety is a top priority, and I believe in strengthening our partnerships with law enforcement, community leaders, and residents to create a safer Greensboro for everyone.

We must support common-sense policies that reduce crime while investing in programs that engage our youth, provide mental health resources, and build stronger community-police relationships. A safer Greensboro is a more prosperous Greensboro, and I am committed to taking action to make that a reality.

A Steward of Leadership for Our City

Leadership is about service, accountability, and vision. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with businesses, local organizations, and city leaders to drive meaningful change. Whether it was advocating for responsible development with the Preserve Friendly Avenue initiative or championing innovation in Greensboro’s tech industry, I’ve always believed that leadership means standing up for what’s right and making decisions that benefit our community.

Greensboro needs bold, experienced leadership to navigate the opportunities ahead. We need leaders who listen, collaborate, and take action to improve our city for everyone. My commitment is to be that steward of leadership—one who brings decades of experience, a dedication to progress, and a deep love for this city to every decision made.

Together, We Can Build a Better Greensboro

Greensboro’s future is bright, and with the right leadership, we can make it even brighter. By focusing on economic growth, public safety, and strong leadership, we can ensure our city continues to thrive.

I invite you to join me in this effort—whether as a business owner, a parent, a community leader, or a concerned citizen. Let’s work together to build a Greensboro that we can all be proud of—a city that’s growing, safe, and full of opportunity for future generations.

I’m ready to lead. Let’s make it happen.
